Outdoor learning in the early years 🦖
We promote outdoor learning in the early years here at St. Mary’s, as it can help to extend and enrich the curriculum. The children in Year 1/2 were set a few challenges this morning. Firstly, they found two washing lines hanging up outside with numbered clothes…but they were in the wrong order! The children in Year 2 had to order the clothes in 2s to 20 and the children in Year 1 had to order the clothes from 0 to 10. Next, the boys and girls found a nest of dinosaur eggs 🦖🥚. They had to break/melt the ice to save the dinosaurs trapped inside. Then, we hopped along chalk keywords (Y2) and sounds (Y1) and had to shout them out! Lastly, we filled buckets with stones and tried to get them to balance. Some artists also created beautiful paintings outside! What a morning!
